Tokyo!

Well we're in Tokyo now! Here's a rundown of stuff:

Thursday:

- Child-minding at Mukonoso Megumi - the mums were having a prayer meeting downstairs. Unfortunately, some of the kids were sick with the flu, so they couldn't come. It was good to meet the mums and the kids and to have a good morning playing with the kids. Pray that the kids with the flu with get better soon, and that people will stay healthy over the winter!

- Team debrief and hangout at Umeda Sky Building - crazy 173m tall buildings... and crazy pples that want to go to the top of them! Joyce faces her fears and walks out onto the roof! And we make sure that we are all still sane and functioning ;)

- Okonomiyaki with Maiko for dinner! YUM!

- Dene, Jono, Serene and Ruth travel to Tokyo via overnight bus.

Friday:

- Dene, Jono, Serene and Ruth arrive in Tokyo, check into apartment, sleep. Some observations about the bus: no toilets, stops every 1.5hoursish for a toilet break, Serene and Jono somehow manage to sleep most of the way!

- Joyce, Rachel, Eliott and Simeon pack up the apartment, check out and catch the Shinkansen to Tokyo - thanks so much to Maiko for helping us get to the Shinkansen!! (Imagine Rachel with Simeon in the pram, dragging 2 massive suitcases behind her, Eliott pulling his little suitcase, me with a pack on my back and pulling 2 suitcases one on top of the other with one hand, and Eliott with the other hand!!) Dene rescued us at Tokyo station and then we get to our new home for the week!

Our apartment in Tokyo is really nice - hopefully will post a picture sometime! It is very large by Tokyo standards and also quite cheap! :D

- The kiddos go on a food and exploration trip, Joyce and Serene cook dinner with a tiny clay pot on a stove and a tiny rice-cooker - interesting experience! Noone has died of food poisoning yet, thank God! :P

Saturday

Ueno day! The Hugheses catch up with an old friend Miyoko, Joyce and Serene go to the zoo, Ruth goes to the art gallery, Jono goes to the museum. We (w/out Hugheses) also go to Ameyoko Markets and eat green tea icecream and go shoe shopping and eat sushi from a sushi train! Then we all catch up and having Korean bbq for dinner, Ruth, Joyce and Rachel go back to the markets while everyone else goes home, then we get home too, then we are tired and go to sleep.

Right now Jono is still eating noodles. He eats a lot ^^.

Readers can probably tell that my English is quickly turning into Jinglish - I'm turning Japanese! ^o^
